How We Work Together

Behind each art workshop was quiet preparation. We shared the purpose, reviewed consent together, invited people drawing, collected a short survey, and recorded stories with permission. Our team practiced and adjusted along the way to make the space feel caring and clear.

Training & Improving

This video shows our team role-playing the drop-in art table.

In the fall of 2025, our team hosted 47 drop-in art tables and workshops across Lewiston. We set up at the Farmers’ Market, gathered in community art studios, and moved through local community spaces to welcome people of all ages and backgrounds.

Promoting & Inviting

This video shows our team promoting the workshop on social media.

We held the space with care so everyone could feel at home, whatever their art skills or personal stories. Music played in the background, conversations unfolded with curiosity, and the room held laughter alongside tender, teary moments.

Putting the Painted Wood Circles Together

After the workshops ended, our team spent the next two months reviewing consent forms, digitizing the artwork and stories, and transcribing the narratives with care.

This process allowed the team to re-immerse themselves in hope.

Yun Garrison received generous help from community-minded artists. Gerald Walsh helped with the idea of installing and protecting the art. Serafim Yssolo helped add mural shields to the painted wood circle. Miia Zenller helped with experimenting with final art designs.

The composition honors the organic nature of hope and togetherness.

Yun Garrison and Emma Egan worked together to create a website and digital archive. Emma’s library science background, knowledge of web design, and artistic eye ensured the archive is both organized and visually meaningful. Anny Faherty, Archivist, generously offered consultation.

Yun Garrison painted the background panels and arranged the individual wood circles so the stories could flow and connect with one another.

The process involved careful reflection and conversations with people in Lewiston.
The process reflects a willingness to contribute to the Lewiston community.
