So I drew my friend Gordon at the Farmer's Market with his bags and his Red Sox T-shirt. I come to the market. I work at the market, but I also come to the market while I'm not working here. And over the years, over two years, my sister and I have formed this beautiful friendship with this older gentleman named Gordon and we hang out at the market every week. And he brings us lists of songs that he has listened to that he thinks that we would enjoy. And to me, our friendship kind of defies what a typical friend relationship looks like in terms of age, in terms of interest, in terms of, you know, arbitrary parameters. I feel like he represents hope to me in Lewiston and in general, that there are people who you would not normally meet and grow a friendship with if you weren't, you know, experiencing community in such a visceral way, I think that he represents hope to me because he, he gives me hope that, you know, Lewiston can thrive on community, and anybody within Lewiston can find a sense of community in anybody else, even the most unlikely people.
